14. Tilda Swinton.

I busted out the Cuttlelola dot making pen to give it a go on a human. That human was Tilda Swinton.  This is a fashion photo of her. I have to say, it's a definitely not easy and a HUGE challenge trying to control this thing without the dots just consuming what you're doing. It was a good practice/experiment, though. Had a lot of fun with it. I will definitely mess around with it more in the future. Pointillism played a huge role in my artistic journey while I was in high school. It's fun to get back to it.

13. Fergus the Clown.

I don't know much about Fergus, but I know that their instagram is called A Little Clown Named Fergus and they are simultaneously terrifying and intriguing. Fergus is a very polite clown, but the eye sockets really scare the hell out of me. I do love clowns, though. I had to paint Fergus. This is giving me Halloween time vibes. Kinda miz that it won't be that time for another 8 months.

12. Butch Walker.

Butch Walker is a musician that has changed me in the best ways. I grew up listening to him thanks to my cousin, Raechel, and he guided me through the high highs and the low lows. He was there when I was a teenager lacking direction and purpose and he became the soundtrack to my life through college. As an adult, he's still here, and he still comforts me in a way that no one else can. I forced Matt to go to Melbourne, Australia just so I could go to the restaurant/cafe inspired/named after him (it's Sycamore Meadows in Melbourne and one of the owners, Garry, is literally the best). I did this inspired by his album/one of my favorite phrases, Stay Gold. This one's for you, Butch.

11. Elton John.

This is one of my favorite pieces to date: Elton John. It's actually a collaboration with fellow artist, Matt Benyo, and it's beautiful. Matt did all of the glitter (including the darker silver for the shadows on the costume) and I did everything else. The cherry on top were the jewels/gems that I added for the shirt and the stars in the background. This is for sale for $130 since it took a total of 5+ hours and features all of the best elements. Check out the details on this sucker! It's 4x6 inches.

10. Lady Gaga.

Lady Gaga is someone I've wanted to do a painting of for a long time. I tried this time last year, but that just didn't work out for me. I messed something about her up. So, I decided 2020 is the year I was going to make it really happen. Fun fact: in the reference I used, she doesn't have a clown collar like that, but I decided it needed to be. So, party.

9. Florence Pugh as Dani.

All hail the May Queen! Ari Laster is a genius and he's 2 for 2 with home runs when it comes to his movies. Florence Pugh is in his latest movie, Midsommar, and she blew me away with her performance. This was definitely my most ambitious mini painting to date. It took me SIX HOURS! I also varnished it with a high gloss so it was hard to get a good picture of it. Check it out below along with a progress shot!

8. Count Dracula.

Count Dracula. The best. I really loved Claes Bang as Count Dracula in the mini series. He's very dignified. Anyway, these will be the last profile views I do for awhile. They're a fun pair, though.

7. Sister Agatha.

The new BBC Dracula series on Netflix is GREAT. I've watched the first episode nonstop. The second episode is good, but the third is not. However, I am gripped by Sister Agatha and Dracula. Sister Agatha is witty and has the best lines of the whole show, but her interactions with Count Dracula are top notch. It's a constant game of chess with them and I love it. This is also my first painted PROFILE! So, hell yeah. It was a lot harder than I thought. Tomorrow, there will be an accompanying piece to this. I'm pumped!

6. Billy Hargrove.

Billy Hargrove. My one true love. My man crush. Played by Dacre Montgomery, he is the ultimate when it comes to bad boys and he's a real jerk, but he becomes a hero and I will forever be in love with him. I truly believe this is my BEST painted portrait to DATE. I feel like I'm really starting to understand how to paint and that's the greatest thing. Gotta keep making and moving! Check it out, including some progress shots, below!

5. Bill Murray.

I love me some Bill Murray, but I think it's the characters that I love and not really him because when I saw him live, he was really detached from the audience and wasn't very personable (and I was in the front row). I still appreciate him and his art, but I don't care about meeting him anymore.

4. Bill SkarsgÄrd.

I find Bill to be an interesting character in every movie he is in, but also in life because I'm not entirely convinced that he's a real person. He was particularly gripping as The Kid in Castle Rock, a series inspired by the world of Stephen King. I really wanted to capture his eyes and the unease he would put into others with them.

3. Alice Cooper.

There's something undeniably and effortlessly cool about Alice Cooper. Like, if I was a guy, I would probably be him. He's the true KING of darkness and I appreciate his flair, dramatics, and music. I had way too much fun with this. Hell yeah! FEED MY FRANKENSTEIN! Which, fun fact, I thought was BEEEEE MY FRANKENSTEIN, but I was corrected.

2. Robin Williams.

Robin Williams. What a gem of a soul, but isn't it wild that he seemed so happy and funny, but he was really sad and hurting inside? That's what's wrong with society, man. Everyone assumes. They think people are fine, but people need to be checked on and they need people to listen to them. My little sister always said that something about Robin Williams reminded her of our dad. In August, it will be 6 years since we lost him. He'll never be forgotten and he will always make us laugh, cry, and think about what it means to be human.

1. Rupaul Charles.

Hello, hello, hello! Kicking off my January Honorable Mentions set with Rupaul Charles because he is an icon that we don't deserve. I'm a big Rupaul fan and I think he makes the world a better place by being in it. He fills the world with color and I am here for it.

Buffalo Bill.

I'm active again on my @theillustrated90s account I made on instagram. I'm using this time to experiment with Matt's ipad/procreate for this particular style. I'm excited to see where it goes. For my first one, I whipped up Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs. It's a fun style for sure.

Darth Maul.

Darth Maul legitimately scares me and maybe that's why I was under a spell when I drew and painted this. This is my final Star Wars Topps Trading Card painting and I'm pumped to go out on this note. May the force be with you!

Master Yoda.

I went back and forth about doing Yoda for awhile, but ultimately, I'm glad I got to do him (and sideways at that). Happy, I am, to be posting this!

Anakin Skywalker.

I had a couple of people want me to do characters that I didn't originally intend to do so I'm going to be posting those over the course of the day. First up, Anakin Skywalker! It's specifically meant to be Anakin when he goes nuts! So, here he is! Worked with the colors and wanted to stick to a warm palette.

Wienermobile.

My love for the wienermobile knows no bounds. So, catch me riding into 2020 like...

This is my first ever real drawing on the iPad using procreate (thanks, Matt).

Rocketman.

One of the movies I watched more than anything during the 2019 year was Rocketman. It's a biopic where Taron Egerton plays Elton John. He also sings all of the songs! It's great. Anyway, I thought that for my very last piece of art for the year, I wanted to finish this piece up.

I drew it in my sketchbook back in October and let it sit there. The other night, I finally knew what I wanted to do and how I wanted it to look. By the end, it looked like a gig poster. Maybe it was up in Doug Weston's Troubador. Matt threw some texture on it and I really do love it. You can purchase a print of it up in my etsy shop!

Pizza Party.

Let me start this by saying I am a pizza fanatic.

At the beginning of 2019, I read a statistic that said the average american eats 46 slices of pizza a year. I knew that was a ridiculously LOW statistic compared to how much pizza I normally ate. So, for the entire year, I kept track of every slice I ate.

By the end of 2019, I had consumed a total of 668 slices. That's insane, right? I think that if we all kept track of what we ate, we would surprise ourselves, but IF YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO IT, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING. I'm going to chill out on the pizza in 2020. You'd think I'd be sick of it, but surprisingly, I'm not. Remember, there's no party like a pizza party.

Boxie the Boxer.

While spending time with my family on Christmas Eve, my little sister showed me some art that my nephew did and I was blown away (as usual). I think kids make the best art. It's so magical. They are free to explore and create without any doubts or limits in mind; it's just pure and wonderful.

So, when I saw this dog in the snow, I had to know about it. Who is this dog? What are they doing? According to my 7 year old nephew, they read or watched a movie about dogs and he decided to make a Christmas dog. It's a boxer, so he gave the dog boxing gloves on its feet and a medal around its neck with a B on it (also for Boxer). When asked what this dog's name was, he said it was Boxie.

I've never participated in a "draw this in your style" challenge, but I was thrilled to start with this. This is my version of Boxie the Boxer. It somehow lacks all of the magic that his has. As artists, we have a lot to learn again that we forgot as kids.
