18. Uncle Fester.
Uncle Fester is a good one. He has some of the best one liners in the entire Addams Family franchise. I like the one where he says, "My name is Fester. It means 'to rot.'" I busted out laughing when I read that recently. Christopher Lloyd plays him and that guy is a great actor. So, here's Fester.

17. Pennywise.
I grew up with Tim Curry's It not too far from the back of my mind. He was made for that role and brings a humor to the character that Bill Skarsgard misses (but I'm not knocking his version of Pennywise because it's great in its own way). I wanted to highlight Tim Curry, though.

16. Sabrina Spellman.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a pretty solid show. The overall tone/mood is dark and it fits me because I wish I was a witch.

14. Michael Jackson.
Thriller is the best music video ever made. I stand by it and I will until the end of time. The debate whether to do zombie MJ or werewolf MJ was a tough one, but I ultimately opted for the zombie. I'll do the werewolf next year. This was a real challenge, but here we are.
13. John Wayne Gacy.
With this piece, I didn't want to glorify John Wayne Gacy or Pogo the Clown, but I wanted to highlight something about him in a way that isn't traditional. Serial killers have become an infamous part of popular culture that people have developed a fascination for, but what about the victims? Can you recall a single victim that lost their life at the hand of Gacy?
In 6 years, he took the lives of 33 young men. Serial killers are who they are because of the lives they take; the victims and the murderer become intertwined. The victims are more important than this man, but they aren't remembered that way. They make this man who he is and that's why instead of a traditional portrait, this piece comes together using only the names of the 33 victims repeatedly; 6 of these individuals remain nameless over 40 years later.
I wanted to make sure that they were also used for the background with the blended ink because after they became a headline, they faded away into the background, but they shouldn't have. This piece is to acknowledge them.

12. Salem Skeleton Singer.
The skeleton singer from Salem in Hocus Pocus is one of the best, yet most underrated, characters. There's not a lot of credit given to him, but for Day of the Dead, I thought this was a good choice since he's a skeleton. I know that's not what Day of the Dead is about, but it's the closest thing I have that would work for today.

11. The Grand Wizard.
The Worst Witch is a great movie. Most people haven't even heard of it, let alone seen it. It's from 1989 starring Fairuza Balk. It's a bunch of witches in a witch school and Tim Curry is the Grand Wizard and he's a huge deal. He sings this really great number about Halloween and it's honestly the best. My mom has been having us watch this since we were little. I introduced it to Matt last year. It's still a classic. Happy Halloween!
10. Nosferatu.
I've done a lot of Nosferatu's over the years, but this has to be my favorite one. I was having a really hard time painting him and it took me a lot longer than I anticipated, but it sure is a beaut!

9. Skeletor.
Skeletor is a funny guy. He has this great quote that says: I am not nice, I am not kind, and I am not wonderful! Makes me laugh. I used black light paint on him (as you can see in the third photo). I also learned that it takes a million coats to make that paint look solid. Lesson learned.

8. Arthur Fleck.
Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck in the newest Joker left an impression. I enjoyed the film a lot and worked on this for a long time. I think it's one of my best pieces as of late. It has a nice varnish on it, which is a new thing for me, that really brings out the undertones and makes the face paint look like it's coming up. I also used a blacklight to show him crying!
7. Steve Harrington.
I enjoyed Stranger Things season 3 a lot. The 80's were awesome. I wanted to pay homage to Steve Harrington in his Scoops Ahoy outfit. In the summer time, I tried the USS Butterscotch and it was a good time.

6. Pumpkin Dwight.
The Office is an amazing show and so I had to pay homage this Halloween season with Dwight Schrute's fantastic pumpkin head.

5. Slappy.
Who could forget one of the most iconic characters of the 90's: Slappy the Dummy from the Goosebumps books?!

3. Elvira.
Mistress of the dark! She's done something different with her eyes, but don't stare for too long. Also, when I scanned this, the pink highlights didn't show up? So, I guess the scanner hates fluorescent pink.

2. Sally.
Couldn't do Jack without including Sally! Sally has a lot more depth than Jack does so this was a challenge in a good way.

1. Jack Skellington.
Drawlloween season is back and I'm fashionably late, but I'm back again! Because I started late, I'm going to just go into November. I'm nervous and excited and hope that this is going to be a lot of fun. HOPEFULLY I'm not too rusty! First up, Jack Skellington from Nightmare Before Christmas!

Eat Like Andy.
This is from an ad I saw during Super Bowl 2019. It was a Burger King ad that showed a clip from a 1982 documentary called 66 Scenes from America. Burger King didn't want to take anything away from, or alter, the video in anyway. They did cut it down from 4 minutes to 45 seconds. The video shows Andy Warhol eating a whopper and the only thing BK added was a hashtag that said: #eatlikeandy. I like it because Andy Warhol made normal, everyday items into art and really challenged all of us to rethink what it means for something to be ART. It has come full circle.

Rosie & Louis.
An awesome friend of mine reached out to me to create some pet portraits. I was super thrilled! Rosie is the wild looking gray and white cat and Louis is the black cat. My favorite part about pets is that each one has their own unique personality so I really love capturing that in each painted portrait. Check em out below!

Louise the Cat.
A great friend of mine reached out and asked if I could paint a pet portrait for his girlfriend's birthday and I was more than happy to oblige. This is her cat, Louise. Louise is serving us all sorts of sass and comes off a bit witchy. She loved the painting and she showed it off to everyone.

Orville Peck.
Orville Peck is pure magic. I only just discovered him and he's on the rise. He just released his CD back in March, Pony, and it's GREAT. He's a western crooner mixed with Roy Orbison. Don't even get me started on his amazing outfits. Matt and I are going to drive to Cleveland to see him in October! So, I messed around with a different style and technique with this. I used ink for the fringe mask, but it's too shiny. I'll keep messing around, but I feel like I'm onto something.

Cooper.
I had the honor and privilege of painting Cooper: a dog with an interchangeable Elvis mouth that had a Detroit Tigers collar. I'm told he would've loved it and that's all that matters.
Building Portrait.
I had someone ask me if I could paint a building of the place where they looked just like Pam does in The Office. I knew exactly what she was referencing and I honestly tried to channel Pam as best as I could. It's a little MORE fleshed out than Pam's, but THIS WAS MY FIRST BUILDING PAINTING AND I AM HAPPY WITH IT! I used gouache!

Sgt. Pepper's.
My friend, Scott, has been nagging me to draw for like 2 weeks now and I kept saying I would tomorrow. Well, today I finally did it. I've had this picture of The Beatles in my mind for a few days and wanted to draw it so I did. I'm a huge fan of these outfits. I want to wear them. I listened to The Beatles a decent amount growing up. My mom would play them from time to time; always a Lennon fan, but never a McCartney. Way she goes, I guess. I've also included a couple progress shots. Check it out. Click to enlarge!
